Solo No.61 was 48 pages plus cover. All of the pages will be reproduced above.
Solo did change over the years. The most noticeable change perhaps, apart from the very dated hairstyles of the fifties, being the introduction of outdoor location shots and the more dramatic theatrical sets, which were usually constructed for movies. The sets were built in the additional studio space at Lily Place, E.C.1, acquired in 1963. They included the dungeon and bedroom sets featured in the above issue as well as an Eastern set, a Hollywood apartment, a Parisian street scene and several others. The studio in Gerrard Street, Soho was kept on as a permanent exhibition of photographs. You will see an advert for the exhibition on the inside back cover of the above.
