After Harrison Marks died in 1997, all his personal papers and the publications, negatives, prints and films that had still been in his possession, were gathered together with a view to preserving them. In 1998, a company, George Harrison Marks Enterprises Ltd., was formed to look after his photographic inheritance for the benefit of his family. The directors of the Company are Josie, his daughter and principal heir, and Peter Fairbrass one of his closest friends. The copyright to all of Harrison Marks' work has been licensed in perpetuity to the Company.

In 2001, work started on cataloguing as much of Harrison Marks work as possible. The work was, and continues to be, carried out on the Company's behalf by Deram Systems, which specialises in developing online databases. Since then, members of Harrison Marks' family and many friends, business colleagues, past employees and models have contributed their knowledge to building as complete a picture as possible of his numerous publications and film productions.

By 2004, enough of the catalogue had been compiled to enable this web site to be launched. Deram continues to develop and maintain this site and we expect to be adding further information to it for many years to come.
